Look out Griswald’s!

Okay so we aren’t quite up to the Griswald’s status just yet, but give us another year or two…

Yes, we already have our Christmas lights up on the house. And let me tell you it was quite an ordeal! It started with just getting all of our Christmas decor down from the attic. Then my wonderful husband(whom I often accuse of having ADD for this very reason) decided he needed to check the lights to see if they still worked or how many bulbs were out. But wait…..that’s not all! Then he started laying out the strands of lights around the house to see if we would have enough(which we knew we wouldn’t because we now have an entire house to decorate) and trying to figure out how many more strands we would need. The next thing I know out come the ladders and lights are going up! A few trips to Lowes and a very long day later…..TaDa!

By the way just for the record, our roof is much higher and steeper than it looks!! Yikes!

This year was another first for us, since our house has vinyl siding we were told not to use staples or anything that will put holes in any part of the siding. So we had to use little clips that clip on the siding and attach the lights to the house. Very different method than we are used to but they worked! And we didn’t have sore hands from stapling all day long. Awesome!

We had a few harrowing moments on the ladder and the roof!

After adding some more lights here and there, this is the final product! It looks much better in person I swear!

The planter under the window needs a little more something…..Maybe next year!

The plan is to add a little more each year. Michael is already talking about reindeer on the roof! We really wanted the airplane blow up guy, but it was obviously very popular because it was always out of stock. Oh well our snowman is super cute!  One day we might really have a house like the Griswalds  :)
