Michael’s baby sister Rachel came out to visit us from Cali on her spring break a few weeks ago.
She flew a red eye flight landing in Atlanta at 6am. After a nap to re-energize, she was immediately introduced to what is a pretty normal afternoon/evening in our neighborhood. Kids and bikes and toys everywhere!
We are outside playing almost every day.
Sometimes you just have to join the kids!
The next day, we finally got to take her over to Savannah/Tybee Island and show her our favorite things to see and do! Justin(or JuJu as our kids call him) even came along with us for our adventure!
I think she was still a bit jet lagged……hehehe….she’s gonna hate me for posting this if she sees it =)
After Rachel’s nap, and our 3 hour ride after a stupid detour, we finally arrived in downtown Savannah!
Once we got down on the Riverwalk, we saw the neatest thing! A huge cargo ship full of containers heading out to sea passing right in front of us! It was massive!
That was probably the highlight of the day for Kaydin(until we got to the beach)
My Two Dad’s …..anyone????
A friend of ours recommended a good place for lunch that is off the beaten path – non touristy if you will. So we walked and walked for what seemed like forever!
We made it to our destination and had a very yummy lunch! We then headed back to the car and drove 15mins over to Tybee Island. The weather wasn’t exactly ideal, temp was a bit chilly and overcast/drizzly. Not great for the beach time we had planned, but we made the best of it!
First we headed to the Tybee Island Lighthouse
Some of us headed up the many flights of stairs to check out the view!

After the lighthouse, we changed the kids into their swimsuits and walked over to the beach. Kaydin was so excited, mostly to play with the beach toys I’ve had in my closet since last year that we never got to use.
He was cold….but he had a blast!
Kamryn did not like the sand at first….
Eventually we got her to walk around and explore a little….check out what Kaydin was doing.
Then she found a puddle she liked =)
But that didn’t last very long
We lasted about an hour at the beach, then got the kids into dry clothes, grabbed some dinner and headed back home. What a day!
During the remainder of Rachel’s stay with us, we took her to Lane Packing Co. to play on the playground and get some peach ice cream
Michael, Kaydin and Rachel went to the Museum of Avaiation. Unfortunately there are no pics from their adventure because I was not with them.
Overall I think Rachel had a good time during her trip. She definitely got to see what our day to day life is like with 2 kids now! We had a lot of fun having her here =)
