August was a pretty crazy busy month for us. We made a trip back to California, then Kathryn and Kaydin started back to school! It took a few weeks to adjust to everyone’s new schedules. Now that we’ve gotten into the swing of things(and you’re all tired of waiting for an update!) here is a look at our trip!
The journey to California!
It began with our hour and a half drive to the airport bright and early in the a.m. Parked the car at a park’n ride and took a shuttle over to the airport.

We had a direct flight, so I came armed with everything I could think of to keep Kaydin occupied for 4+ hours.

And finally……..10 minutes before landing in Ontario……he fell asleep! He missed one of the best parts of flying!(and only got a 10 minute nap the whole day - ugh)
It was a long day of traveling, so our first stop in Cali was a yummy In-N-Out burger lunch!
Kaydin had a blast playing at Grandma’s house. She had an entire hill full of rocks! He was in heaven.

The weather wasn’t as warm as we are used to here in Georgia. And the pool water was pretty chilly!
So we fired up the jacuzzi a couple of times

I recruited my wonderfully un-trained husband to take some photographs of my siblings and I for my mom’s birthday gift. She had no idea we did this! And they actually came out awesome! His preferred method of picture taking is to simply hold the button down and hope at least 1 of them will turn out. I’ve gotta give him some credit on this one!! His method worked great!

Kaydin’s entertainment most of the time we were there(besides the pool) were all the cars my mom kept from when my brother was little!
One night my Dad took us to have some adult high speed fun!

It was a blast! Definitely not your ordinary theme park go karts. These things were FAST!
Time for the big trip home! Kaydin got a new airplane to add to his collection this trip. He now has 2 Delta airplanes :)

Oh and I must add at the end of this story that Kaydin once again fell asleep just before we landed in Atlanta! This time about 20 minutes before so he slept a little longer, but he still missed the landing. One day he’ll be able to make it until we land.
So that was just a glimpse at our wonderful vacation in California. A big thank you to my parents for letting us invade their home! We had a wonderful trip – and as Michael said, it will probably be another couple years till we go back. We had our fill for a while.
